A FEW weeks ago, the Wiltshire Times reported that they had been told that the interminable roadworks at Holt Road/New Road, Bradford on Avon, were to finally be finished on March 31. These works have caused outrageous delays and wasted fuel for a very long time.
Today, April 24, there are still temporary traffic lights, and lots still to do. Perhaps they meant March 31, 2018? Or, as some think, they may be spinning it out in order to get their first anniversary cards and cakes!
Just think, if this lot had been building the M4 out of London 60 years ago, they’d be about as far as Reading by now. Wiltshire Highways is blaming the delays on “voids” discovered beneath the roads there. Some suspect, that the real “voids” are in Wiltshire Council’s ability to manage a roadworks project. And why is there a new, narrow pinch-point by the Moulton factory, when there is a vast expanse of pavement/verge available beside it? Could it be these pesky “voids” again? Just asking.
