IT annoys me when people complain about our NHS. As a long-haul pilot, visiting many destitute countries, I have seen the effects of grinding poverty and preventable diseases. Millions of people in the world do not have enough to eat. This government, quite rightly, gives £12 billion in overseas aid per year, about £8 a week. I have no problem with that. the NHS budget is £116 billion per year.
Thanks to the splendid staff at the Bath RUH I have survived prostate cancer. Early detection by the NHS saves our lives.
Every day is precious. All the oncology staff at the RUH have a stressful job. They were always helpful and cheerful. We must count our blessings.
