Turning on Radio Wiltshire this morning, I heard the sad news that Bradford on Avon no longer has a bank.
When I came to live here 20 years ago, there were two banks in Church Street and a main Post Office in The Shambles – about right for a small town. Now there is no bank or postal services in central Bradford. Is this unique?
Now the result of the local elections has given us a council dominated by people who stand as uncommitted to any party – I think we are becoming a one-horse town – we need Wyatt Earp as Sheriff and the bank as stable.
My answer to all this is a post office in The Shambles with a cash machine inside and outside the office.
