I AM pleased to see that your paper has picked up on the closure of the Medley Day Opportunity Centre for the General Election count.
I was contacted by a Hilperton resident about this last week and received the following reply from Wiltshire Council: “These arrangements will inconvenience a number of services and their users including the Medley Day Centre. We are working with our Medley clients, their parents and carers to provide another familiar and known venue for those due to be with us on the ninth. We will share and discuss these arrangements with our clients over the next few days as we always do.”
Whilst this is good news, it is a shame that the original letter to the centre users was rather less positive – simply stating that the centre would be closed.
Perhaps a lesson to be learned on how to communicate effectively, or is Wiltshire Council only now looking to provide another venue due to the outcry over its original decision?
