On Friday, May 12, an opinion piece was published in the Wiltshire Times highlighting the challenges facing local retail businesses. I was surprised to read that there is one large electrical retailer remaining in Trowbridge, when our store, a large independent electrical retailer, is located in the same retail park in Trowbridge as Curry’s.
I felt that it wasn’t clear in your article which retailer you were referring to so I wanted to take the opportunity to correct any misunderstanding. We pride ourselves on our customer service. We invest in our customers by ensuring staff are on hand to provide personal advice, taking the time to help with any questions or problems.
All of our store staff, including the managers and retail director, are extensively trained and on hand to serve customers whenever this is needed. We take this one step further than other retailers with regular expert cooking demonstrations in store. These are free to attend and provide the chance for customers to discover more about our products.
As you identified there are many challenges independent businesses face. However, independents have so much to offer customers in today’s world. If you need advice then staff working in independents have the experience and knowledge to share with customers. If there is a problem it will be resolved quickly by an individual in the store rather than a call centre. When you shop with a local business you are supporting and investing in the local economy.
We are a family business, proud of our heritage in the local area and we pride ourselves that we will go the extra mile to help our customers. We continue to evolve and invest to create a modern retail business as shown by the recent launch of our online appliance shop www.knees.co.uk.
Our next Trowbridge store demonstration is on Saturday June 24 and we welcome you to join us and embrace what local independent businesses have to offer in Trowbridge.
