MARKS & Spencer has a store in Trowbridge whose car park is operated by a private company.

If a visitor to M&S misses the “clearly displayed” notices on entering Cradle Bridge Retail Park and fails to obtain a parking ticket then an £80 fine is due!

The operators claim that they are in the right to raise said charge based on a Supreme Court decision, ParkingEye v Beavis, which they cite as being relevant.

I believe that as a local paper you might expose this activity in the interests of both the local community and Marks & Spencer, which presumably is wishing to encourage shoppers.
