I WENT to Cradle Bridge retail park in Trowbridge for the first time on August 28, drove around for some time looking for a disabled space, couldn’t find any so parked in the normal space thinking my displayed blue badge would cover me. I was in M&S for about 20 minutes, straight back to my car to rest for a few minutes, then drove around again to see what else was in the park, then left.
On September 2 I received the parking charge notice from Smart Parking fining me £48! I was horrified. There were photos of my car entering and leaving the park but none of me actually parked. I have a chronic lung disease, arthritic hips and much of what else comes with age, so can do without this stress.
I tried all through Monday, September 4 to contact them by telephone and was told every time “there’s no one in the office at present.” Clearly they have no intention of talking to anyone. I’ve sent a letter pleading my case which would have arrived Wednesday, September 6 but, having read of similar cases in your paper, I don’t hold out much hope of hearing anything before the due date of the fine.
