THE Wharf Theatre has been offering high-quality theatre and diverse entertainment to audiences in the Devizes area for decades. The beautiful converted barn sits next to the busy Kennet & Avon canal and features significantly in the cultural life of the town.
The 96-seat intimate space venue presents in-house produced musicals, plays, pantomimes and youth shows; performances for children and their families; live music and guest speakers. The Wharf is very much a theatre run by the community for the community.
We are currently seeking dedicated volunteers to join our friendly front of house team to create a warm, welcoming environment for our patrons.
Volunteer ushers play a vital role in providing customer care and ensuring the safety of our audiences throughout the show; working alongside our front of house manager and duty manager to ensure that all our guests have a great time during their visit.
If you enjoy working with the general public as part of a team, have excellent communication skills and a willingness to provide first-rate customer service, you could be just the person we are looking for.
The role requires ushers to work during evenings, weekends and matinees, you get to pick what shows you want to work and how often. Shifts normally start at 6.30pm and last approximately three hours. Roles vary from serving tea and coffee, selling programmes to running the box office.
In return for your support, we can offer you the following benefits:
n The chance to work with our lively supportive team in a creative and sociable environment.
n The opportunity to see a range of productions while working.
n A refreshment on shift.
