I AM writing in reply to the letter from RA Naish printed in your September 29 edition. I agree wholeheartedly with the issues raised and the comments made, and feel very strongly that leisure facilities are desperately needed on the Innox Mills site.
This is needed for everyone of all ages, but especially young people. What facilities does Trowbridge have for young people, apart from eateries, cinemas and pubs. Not everyone wants to go to a cinema, albeit very popular and very welcomed in the town, and neither does everyone want to go out to eat.
Trowbridge is growing rapidly in population, and as the county town of Wiltshire, a county becoming an increasingly popular place to live, needless to say, a beautiful county, we need all of the amenities that have been suggested in R.A. Naish’s letter.
So many people I have spoken to would like to have ten pin bowling, pool/snooker, squash courts, and table tennis on this site. As the only swimming pool is located at Clarendon Academy on the outskirts of the town, it would be good to have a pool on this site, which would be much more accessible being situated in the centre of town.
We do not need another supermarket, there are enough, we do not need another petrol station either. We can only hope that the comments made by Jonathan Dean from Innox Mills, printed in Richard Mills’ article October 13 edition, will come to fruition, and that we will be able to have the long awaited leisure facilities.
While writing can I thank Mike Prior for his recent photo of Trowbridge park. The picture was superb, with the park looking stunning, as always.
