THE Wiltshire Waste Management Consultation questionnaire available online or in libraries should be sent to Tracy Carter at Wiltshire Council by November 14.
Questions 18 and 19 have a special significance for Westbury residents. “Energy from waste” means an incinerator in close proximity of residential areas continuously burning household waste from all of Wiltshire and even from parts of Somerset, to fill the large capacity of the incinerator.
“Financially beneficial” says the council.Tracy Carter. But who will pay? We the residents of Westbury will be breathing the harmful gases and particulates coming out of another big chimney 60 metres high.
There will also be more pollution from increased traffic bringing in the waste and taking away the ash.
We need to strongly disagree with questions 18 and 19.
