HILLS have been processing each year 60,000 tonnes of Wiltshire waste from our black bins at their Northacre site. This means estimated 60 lorry movements into Westbury each day from other parts of the county. The increased intake limit to 90 000 tonnes has enabled the company to secure a contract to process 15,000 tonnes of waste from Bath, which will obviously mean further increase of traffic, but still leaves some capacity to fill. So we ask Hills: “Will you be importing waste from Somerset next?”
Westbury, a small town with traffic pollution already over the permitted limit, is becoming the rubbish dumping ground of the Southwest.
