I WAS pleased to see my grandfather’s photo (Frank Connor), page 40 in the centre of both band group photos in the Wiltshire Times (December 1). He was bandmaster to the Royal British Legion, Trowbridge Branch, 1939-1960.
He was a drummer and bugle player in the First World War and lost his arm from shell shrapnel. I still have the bugle he wore rippled with holes, which probably saved his life.
