What a silly letter from the Countryside Alliance, from London, in the Wiltshire Times (December 17).

Most people, when they think about it, are disturbed by the thought of wild animals being chased for fun. Most people do not like burglars; the fact that they are often hard to catch does not justify changing the law to allow those who do bad things the freedom to do so.

The horses and dogs and the elaborate dressing-up may provide a colourful spectacle, but everyone should remember the enjoyment of cruelty within organised hunting.
