It’s wrong to say yellow lines are needed

In last week’s Wiltshire Times report of the residents’ campaign against extending parking restrictions in Eastbourne Road and Harford Street in Trowbridge, a Wiltshire Council spokesman is quoted as saying “the double yellow lines were needed to improve access for emergency services and waste crews”.

This is a completely bogus reason. My wife and I have lived here for 21 years and to our knowledge there have never been any problems of access for large or emergency vehicles.

Regular delivery lorries, weekly waste carts and occasional ambulances and fire engines travel our roads quite easily at all times.

I hope that our protests will not be rejected because of false information.

Paul Williams, Eastbourne Road, Trowbridge.
