I was shocked and saddened to see that the recent Ofsted inspection at The John of Gaunt School pronounced a finding of “requires improvement”. This report is markedly different to the May 2010 judgment of “good with several outstanding features”, and it stands completely opposed to my evaluations about the school.

I felt compelled to write as we have a Year 8 and Year 10 child at The John of Gaunt School who are both making excellent progress. As a family who only moved to Trowbridge three years ago, we faced the daunting prospect of finding a secondary school for our son Cameron, who was in Year 7 at the time.

It seems as though the council is putting yellow lines all over the place in Trowbridge to stop drivers from parking there.

Is this a case of Chinese whispers, where an incident is mis-reported? An item on Page 3 of the May 3 Wiltshire Times entitled ‘Stool sparks alert’ is incorrect.

A few years ago my niece obtained a degree in nursing, which is now required in order to become a registered nurse. At the completion of her degree she told me that in no way did she feel qualified to take care of anybody. Does this perhaps explain the complaints of patients and families about the neglect and lack of care which some suffer?
