Location

Steeple Ashton was once a market town, with a weekly market, the market cross still stands on the village green. A great fire destroyed the textile mills within the small town, and this was moved to the nearby town of Trowbridge, as the River Biss provided better power. In 1818 the parish extended north and west to include Great Hinton, Semington, and West Ashton greatly reducing the area of Steeple Ashton parish. The village has a vibrant community along with a pub and store.
