I NOW know what it’s like to live like a celebrity after my day at the Calcot Spa near Tetbury in Gloucestershire.

From the décor to the ultra professional and friendly staff, the spa, which is only a few hundred yards from the Calcot Manor hotel itself, can only be described as the perfect getaway.

My friend Tanya and I know our beauty products, so we had high hopes as we arrived for our spa day package, which included treatments, full use of the swimming pool, steam room, sauna and outdoor Jacuzzi and lunch in the beautiful Conservatory Restaurant, which is inside the hotel.

When we arrived we were greeted by a team of very friendly beauty technicians and staff who showed us around the spa and told us what to expect from our day.

Tanya was booked in for an aromatherapy based facial and I was to have the express facial with back, neck and shoulder massage, but as we arrived early we had hours for lunch and free time in the spa first.

We went to eat before donning our bikinis and the dressing gowns and slippers they provided and settled in the Conservatory Restaurant for two main courses and some surprises in between.

Waiters tend to your every need and there were several occasions when I had not so much as finished my glass of water and put it down on the table when a waiter was there with another bottle topping it up.

We were feeling pretty pleased with ourselves over lunch and plotting how we could make our fortunes to live this sort of life permanently and after my gorgeous roast beef and Yorkshire pudding and Tanya’s seabass with pumpkin we were brought a very special mini course in the form of champagne sorbet.

I can’t describe in words how good it was, but I can tell you I ordered more for my dessert!

We began our time in the spa with a glass of champagne served in the hot tub, which is in a courtyard and next to a roaring log fire.

We then spent time in the stylish sauna and steam room and had a swim before it was time for our massages.

The spa also has an area with magazines, water and wooden loungers for quiet time and guests are able to order drinks to be brought up to them as they relax.

Changing rooms are also pretty special and include hairdryers and all the products you need to make sure you leave looking even better than when you arrived.

I was treated by a very friendly woman called Gemma who relaxed me so much I was nearly asleep.

The treatment rooms are stylish and modern, they smell of wonderful floral products and you are left in the room alone after your massage for as long as you need to come back down to earth.

Prices vary for treatments at the spa, but I would recommend a gift voucher as the perfect present and the ideal getaway.

Sporty types can also make the most of fitness classes, a well equipped gym, tennis courts and even bike riding round the grounds.

Vouchers are available for treatments or a full spa day package and can be ordered by calling 01666 891 232.
