As Chippenham Flower Club celebrates its 60th anniversary with cake, a call has gone out for more members to help it bloom at its best again.

The club currently has 27 members, down from 135 of recent times before the pandemic wreaked its havoc on social gatherings.

“We would like to attract more members again, flower arranging brings such a lot of joy to people as when they do it they lose themselves in it, every piece is like a work of art,” said the club’s chairman Mrs Dorryta Hayward.

Besides practice classes, the club members enjoy competitions, away days, dinners and monthly demonstrations and talks by experts in floral art.

Chippenham Flower Club’s next evening will be on Monday March 7, 7.30 pm in Sheldon School Hall when there will be a floral demonstration by newly-qualitied area demonstrator Jenny York on the theme 'Barking Mad'.

Practice classes will continue, now moved to a Tuesday at the Pewsham Community Hall.  For further details, contact Pippa Lovering 01249-824880.
