On Saturday when headliner Alex Sears, front man of Decade, pulled out of Sheer Music’s acoustic gig at The Lamb due to flu, local acts where happy to fill the slot at the gig along with a re-arrangement of the line-up.

First came a solo performance from Year of the Thief front man Jake Assirati who stepped in at the last minute to fill in. His folky “The Band” style vibes opened the evening nicely and was followed by Jess Branson, who also filled in the bill singing three enchanting and graceful covers.

Singer songwriter Hannah West then graced the audience with her alluring original material after her recently recorded a session for Fantasy Radio. It’s amazing to think that, as she mentions in her radio session, she’s only been playing guitar since Christmas and already she’s performing gigs as a solo artist which is truly amazing.

Finally The Souperstars played their second ever show as a duo together with a well chosen collection of acoustic pop punk songs which they performed admirably. Considering it was their second ever show, The Souperstars had definitely seemed to have their own individual sound solidly formed and worked to a great effect. They performed original material and covers in a similar vein and comfortably closing the evening.
