Children at Southbroom Infants School channelled their inner Lewis Hamilton’s on Friday when they raced go karts they had built themselves.
The afternoon was part of an on the move topic with the children learning about healthy eating before designing and building their own wooden go karts.
Inspired by Hamilton’s Formula One success, the junior racers used a range of tools to build their own machines along with designing posters and logos for their teams.
After making and eating healthy wraps for lunch the children then transformed into a junior racing team and whizzed around the playground, cheered on by parents and teachers.
Headteacher Caroline Jackson said: “It was great to see them all so enthusiastic and excited about their learning.
“The topic has been brilliant and covered all aspects of learning from the children writing amazing stories and biographies to working co operatively to make their own go karts.”
