THE West Wilts Wide Citizens Advice Bureau is making changes in a bid to create a more efficient service.

From May 1 there will be a new telephone service with a new number (0844 499 4106).

Clients will be able to speak directly to a trained adviser who will be able to give them advice. Where it is necessary to see the client face to face, the adviser will then make them an appointment.

These changes will take effect in the Trowbridge Bureau only, with the service from Melksham and Warminster remaining the same as they are until further notice.

The Bureau is also working towards providing a facility which will enable people to pop into the waiting room and pick up information, fact sheets and access internet advice sites using a touch screen kiosk.

This service will be available Tuesday-Fridays from 10am-3pm, also from May 1.

Manager Sarah Cardy said: "We are looking forward to providing a quicker, more efficient service to the local community. In order to build on this new service we are continuing to recruit more volunteer advisors and also people for a new role of volunteer Information Assistants to work in our reception area."

People who are interested in applying for voluntary positions will be trained to provide people with information and assist them in the use of the touch screen kiosk.
