EILEEN Bradford, who famously featured on last year’s Christmas fundraising cards for Alzheimer's Support, died aged 98 on September 7.

Mrs Bradford, nee O’Neil, was born on January 24, 1918 in London where she grew up with her mum May and father Arthur in White City.

After finishing at the local primary, she studied textiles at trade school before working in Harrods' glove department until outbreak of the Second World War.

During the war, she worked in Garners factory which is where she met her future husband Robert, who was also working there. After a brief friendship, their love blossomed and they soon made a lifelong friendship with Ted and Marjorie with whom they never lost touch.

Mr and Mrs Bradford married just after the war, shortly moving to his home in West Molesey, living with his mother Martha and sister May.

They shortly welcomed their daughter Joy into the world in 1948 and they later moved to South Harrow where they had their second daughter, Pauline, born in 1957.

Once Mr Bradford had retired from work, the couple decided that they wanted to move to the West Country. The couple eventually decided on moving to North Bradley 35 years ago, after picking four places of interest and sending letters to estate agents in the area. Trowbridge was the only area to respond.

After moving into their home, the couple became great friends with neighbour Dorrie Taylor.

Mrs Bradford joined the local Autumn Leaves club and not long after, began to go to North Bradley Baptist Church where she was a regular attendee for the last 18 years.

She also became a life member of Bath Cats & Dogs Home as she was an avid lover of dogs.

After Mr Bradford died 22 years ago, Mrs Bradford continued to live independently, despite being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s two years ago.

It was last year that she began to attend Mill Street day club where she made many friends and last Christmas she was the face of one of their cards.

Mrs Bradford leaves daughters Joy and Pauline, grandchildren Heather, David, Fiona and Liam and great grandchildren.

Her funeral will take place on September 27 at 2.30pm at West Wiltshire Crematorium. Her ashes will scattered on a shrub at Haycombe Crematorium in Bath alongside her husband Robert.
