AN INVESTIGATION is underway to find out the cause of a barn fire near Corsley on Saturday which took nearly 24 hours to burn out.
Fire crews were called just before midday to Court Lane in Lye's Green following a call by the farmer to say around 100 tonnes of bailed hay was on fire.
Initially three crews, one from Warminster and two from Frome, along with the water carrier from Wilton, attended the scene and contained the blaze.
Relief crews from Mere, Gillingham, Melksham, Stratton, Shaftesbury and Warminster monitored the fire overnight to contain it to the small barn which was almost completely destroyed.
All crews came away from the farm by 2pm on the Sunday.
Dorset & Wiltshire Fire Service have confirmed that an investigation is still ongoing to try and find a cause.
