MOTORISTS are being urged to avoid the A350 at Beanacre near Melksham after it was closed in both directions following a serious accident.
Two people have been cut free from a car after being trapped in their vehicle near Beechfield House following a collision with a lorry.
Three Dorset and Wiltshire fire crews from Corsham and Chippenham and a heavy rescue unit from Trowbridge were called out to the scene.
Wiltshire Police and the South Western Ambulance Service are also attending.
Police received a call at 1.15pm. A spokesman said: "The road is still closed and we expect it to remain closed for some time."
The people freed from the car are understood to be in the care of the ambulance service.
