A BAKER from Warminster has pulled out all the stops for her latest creation which won a silver award award in an international cake competition.

Melanie Colbridge, 41 of Woodland Road spent the last two weeks making her under the sea themed wedding cake which she entered into Cake International, an annual event at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham.

She bagged herself a silver award in the wedding cake with three or more tiers category.

Miss Colbridge said: "I was so delighted be be given a silver award for my cake, it is the first time I have entered the competition and it was amazing to come away with an award.

"We were able to chose any theme for our cake, so I chose under the sea as I was inspired my Auntie.

"She is very artistic and she has collected shells from all over the world and displays them around her mirror.

"This just inspired me as it looked so pretty."

Although the cake isn't all edible, as the category allows parts of cakes to be constructed from polystyrene, the coating and decorations are all made from sugar.

Miss Colbridge has her own cake baking business, A Bite of Delight, which she currently runs from home.

She holds cake decorating classes and parties and also teaches the skill at Warminster College, and is soon moving the business to her new studio in Ginger Piggery at Boyton.
