POLICE have released electronic pictures of a man and woman wanted for questioning about an attempted dog theft in Whitley.

A woman aged in her 20's parked her car at the end of Littleworth Lane to walk her cocker spaniel, when she was approached by the duo who were walked a white Akite type dog of their own.

The pair started talking to the woman and after a while, the man put a slip lead on the cocker spaniel's neck.

The woman quickly removed the lead and left the area feeling scared.

E-fits of the man and woman have been released by the police.

The man is described as white, around 5'10", of a skinny build, with short dark blond hair and was unshaven. He had an Irish accent and is believed to be in his late 20's, wearing grey cargo trousers, a dark coloured jumper and body warmer, with white trainers. The incident took place on November 4 at around 3.30pm.

The woman, also in her late 20's, is around 5'10", with light red hair, which was over shoulder length. She was wearing a pink hoody, skinny light coloured jeans and pink wellies.

PC Sophie Woodfield said: "This incident left the woman feeling scared and upset, and worried that the pair would return to take her dog.

"Were you in the area at the time or do you recognise the pair either from the e-fits or from the detailed descriptions given? We believe they were driving a light blue Renault Megane.

"Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
