A TOTAL of 24 flats will be built by Trowbridge Town Park after Wiltshire Council gave the application the go-ahead.

An old club building off Silver Street will be knocked down and the four-storey building, which will be made up of one and two bedroom flats. will be put in its place.

TC Sports are the owners of the site and now the company will look for a developing partner to build the flats, along with a secure storage building, parking area and paths to access the area from the park.

Trowbridge Cllr Peter Fuller said: "To have a few more flats in the town will not go amiss. This will be just behind the bandstand in the park but I am told it will not have a bad impact the public which is good."

Cllr Chris Beaver added: "Housing is such a big issue these days so this is a good thing for Trowbridge, also it is over the park which is a nice backdrop."

Both Wiltshire Council and Trowbridge Town Council did not raise any objections over the application.
