A BORN and bred Holt resident whose baby died when she was 38 weeks pregnant is hosting a tea party on Saturday to raise money for a maternity hospital bereavement suite.
Lorna Batteson lost her son William last November, despite the best efforts of staff at Southampton Hospital.
In an effort to raise as much as she can for the Southampton maternity hospital bereavement suite, the 26-year-old, who spent the first 22 years of her life in the village, is putting on a tea party in Holt United Reformed Church, The Street.
“I grew up in Holt and lived there for 22 years before moving down near Southampton, as I still know so many people in the village and my sister still lives there I decided it was the perfect place to hold an afternoon tea party to raise money,” said Lorna, who lives were her husband David in New Milton, Hampshire.
“We have already raised £2,000 and many local businesses have supported us already which is so exciting.”
