ONE of the empty stores in the Shires Shopping Centre in Trowbridge could yet be filled after JD Sports put forward an application to move in there.
The leading trainer and sports fashion retailer in the UK sent in the plans to Wiltshire Council to fill the vacant shop opposite Superdrug, in the place vacated by Clinton Cards last year.
In the application form, the shop would be open from Monday to Saturday from 8.30am-6pm and on Sunday and Bank Holidays it would be from 10am-4pm.
Trowbridge Mayor Deborah Halik said: "They are a reputable business that are long established so hopefully we can bring a successful firm like that to the Shires.
"It would be good if others followed suit and filled the vacant shops in the shopping centre. I know business rates are a bit higher in the Shires but hopefully this can attract other businesses that are of the same calibre as JD Sports to the place."
Comments are being accepted until March 9 and Wiltshire Council should deliver its response by the end of March.
