FLANKED by a Second World War jeep and motorcycle, members of the Royal Air Force Association walked a special token into Corsham town centre to commemorate the RAF's centenary.

The token, which is one of three, and represents Major General Trenchard, was welcomed into Corsham by town council chairman Councillor Ruth Hopkinson last Saturday, ahead of a ten mile commemoration walk to Calne via Chippenham starting at 10am on Saturday..

"It was great to see it all come together," Barry Cox, who served 39 years in the RAF, said. "We had the WW2 jeep which was eye catching in Corsham's High Street and the whole event has been really well supported.

"Being part of RAFA means you are part of a big family and I think it is important to give something back in life."

Lyneham Flying Club also took part in a baton relay from Cotswold Airport to St Athen on Tuesday morning using four of their aircraft to mark the centenary.
