A GROUP of friends from Dilton Marsh are taking part in a banger rally from Hull to Barcelona to raise money for a charity close to their hearts.
Couples Martyn Jones and Bethan Laker, and Ben Griffiths and Rosy Chard will be travelling more than 1,000 miles to raise money for Refuge, a charity which supports women and children suffering from domestic abuse.
Mr Jones’ sister, Debbie died in 2010 as a result of domestic abuse, so the charity means a lot to the friends.
Mr Jones said: “I am feeling a bit emotional as this is the first thing I have done in honour of my sister, but I am also excited and we want to have fun with it.”
The theme of the friends’ car is Where’s Wally, and it had to be bought for under £300 - so they hope it will finish the journey.
The group set off on Wednesday and will return on Monday and are hoping to raise a total of £5,000.To donate, please visit www.justgiving.com/fundraising/barcabangers
