MORE than 400 people joined a special celebration of Tibetan culture in Bradford on Avon last weekend.

Tibetans in traditional costume from all over the South West took part in the celebration at the West Barn on Sunday.

The event featured Tibetan singing and dancing including children in full costume, traditional Tibetan food and handicraft stalls.

Visitors also had the opportunity to join a writing session, listen to stories of Tibet and enjoy the healing sounds of singing bowls.

Kunchok Nyima, who ran a Tibetan sound healing meditation class, said: “We had about 120 people joining in and there were more outside.”

Live Art throughout the day was presented by local artists Alexandra Gould and Carole Tonge who painted a Tibetan-inspired depiction of the Dalai Lama returning to his homeland.

Bath District Tibet group, Zari Tibet and Bristol4Tibet organised the event. Public donations will be given to the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts.
