BURBAGE & Easton Royal skipper David Cope believes plenty more twists and turns are likely in the Prem Two Glos/Wilts title race as his side lie in the thick of the promotion battle.

Saturday's 46-run triumph at Thornbury means the villagers are fourth in the table, but only 13 points off top spot currently occupied by Cheltenham, whom they travel to at the end of the month.

"It's a very open league where everybody can beat everybody else and we have a really tough month coming up,'' said Cope, whose side go to Westbury next weekend and also face Corsham and Dumbleton over the next few weeks.

"We're not getting too carried away with it at this point.''

Put into bat, Burbage saw openers Duncan Lorrain (32) and Haydn Amor (43) put on 75 for the first wicket before Henry Cooper's 63 helped them to reach 216 all out - a score Cope considered was about par.

Thornbury lost wickets steadily in reply, Cooper excelling again with 3-20 while Owen Alsop took 3-27 and Adam Lavis 2-31 as Marc Lezar's 37 and 42 from Josh Riggs could not prevent Thornbury succumbing to 170 all out.

Biddestone, weakened by the absence of Dwain Perry, Andy Flynn and Akito Jacques slipped off the title pace after an eight-wicket loss to Cheltenham.

Put into bat, James Bartlett (66) Charlie Quarrell (51) and Luke Paness (50 not out) helped Biddestone reach 261-7 from their 50 overs but their bowlers struggled to make an impact on the visitors' batting as Kieran Smith hit 105 and fellow opener Peter Woodland 99, Josh Breed's unbeaten 41 helping his side to over the line.

Corsham got the better of their Wiltshire derby with Trowbridge as their middle order paved the way to a 100-run triumph.

Tom Abbott's unbeaten 87 was the mainstay of Corsham's 299-8, Simon Crampton hitting 50 as Harry Veal took 3-43 and there were two wickets each for Brad Angell and Scott Mitchell.

Tom Oakley's 72 got Trowbridge off to a promising start but four wickets each from Tom Smith (4-31) and Richard Foley (4-34) ended their innings after 46 overs.
