SPIRITS were high in Keevil on Saturday for the village’s annual fun day and fete.

Close to 1,000 people descended upon the recreation ground, off Martins Road, from midday to 5pm for a jam-packed day of events.

Those who turned up enjoyed a bit of face painting, Punch and Judy, a bouncy castle, and art and photographic competition, morris dancing and a vast array of different edible treats.

And maybe best of all, there was a Spitfire flypast at 3.30pm and a Red Arrows flypast an hour later.

“It went really well, especially because we had to contend with the World Cup, Wimbledon, Formula One and the weather,” said one of the organisers, Pat Tucker.

“Everyone seemed to have a really great time. We are a small village but the community spirit we have here is wonderful.

“We were able to organise the flypasts to happen and they were really well received. We had a lot of fun.”

The proceeds will go to St Leonard’s Church in Keevil and towards the village hall.
