A FAMILY fun dog show organiser is hoping to raise more than £1,000 for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance tomorrow (Sat, Aug 4).

Anne Hooper has organised a second fun dog show at Merkins Farm Café and camping site at Bradford Leigh from 11.30am onwards.

A similar event last year saw 60 dogs being entered and raise £710 for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance appeal and Miss Hooper is hoping to do better this year.

Anne said: “I’ve had an awful lot of interest in this year’s show and we’re hoping to get around 100 entries.

“Hopefully, it’s going to be bigger and better than last year and I’ve already booked in more pet trade, charity and craft stalls.”

This year, there will be 12 classes, plus rosettes for the Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show.

The classes include prettiest bitch, most handsome dog, waggiest tail, best non-pedigree, best pedigree, veteran over seven years, most appealing eyes, best rescue, best young handler under 16 years, best condition, best biscuit catcher and best local dog or bitch.

Registration begins at 11.30am, and judging by Wendy Andrews will start at 12.30pm. The show will end with the presentation of prizes and rosettes.

Entry is £2 per dog for each class entered and there will be a raffle with more than 50 prizes. All proceeds raised will go to the Wiltshire Air Ambulance Appeal.

There will be plenty of free parking on site and teas, coffees and soft refreshments and food is available at the Merkins Farm Café.

Miss Hooper has been helped to organise the event by Merkins Farm Café owners, Jon and Hayley Painter, and also Keith and Angela Brooks, from Neston.
