A BENCH in memory of a influential Guide leader has been unveiled in Southwick Country Park.
Senior figures from the 1st Studley St John’ Guide Unit wanted to do something to honour the late Beryl Haydock, who died last year, for her service to Guide units over the last few decades.
The group was given a donation from her funeral and they decided to pay tribute to her service by getting a bench installed in the park - a place she loved to visit.
“We are very happy with how it looks,” said Marion Davies, of the 1st Studley St John’ Guide Unit.
“We were pleased that Guiding friends who had worked with Beryl over many years were able to gather together to dedicate the bench in Beryl’s memory. We also welcomed Beryl’s daughter Isobel and grandchildren who had travelled from Tavistock to be with us.”
