WILTSHIRE’S oldest independent naval association for ex Royal Navy and Royal Marine personnel gathered for their annual get together, which raised £500 for two causes.
Trowbridge White Ensign Association members and the general public met at Hilperton Village Hall for an evening of music, comedy, courtesy of performer Shep Woolley, and fundraising.
The Trowbridge Sea Cadets and the Bath Cancer Unit Support Group received £250 each.
Chairman of the support group, Tino Polledri, said: “This most welcome cheque will go a little way towards the £480,000 that we are endeavouring to raise for ancillary scanning equipment for the new Cancer Unit at the Royal United Hospital, Bath.
“We would like to sincerely thank the White Ensign for their donation which is greatly appreciated.”
The cancer unit was chosen as seven members had received treatment for cancer there.”
