THE mother of a severely disabled Trowbridge man has started a crowdfunding page to raise the funds she needs to finish off converting her house to fit her son’s needs.
Byron Laver, of Shearman Way, was born with an undiagnosed muscle wasting condition that eventually confined him to a wheelchair when he was nine.
The 27-year-old has been living on his own in a bungalow since 2012 but his health has deteriorated since then and he wants to move out because he has been repeatedly mocked and terrorised by young children in his own home.
His mother Janice, who cares for Byron most days, is looking to adapt her house but is £4,500 short of the £47,000 target, as the grants she applied for from Wiltshire Council are not enough.
Now she has set up a crowdfunding page to reach the total. If successful, her house in Clarence Road, would go through many changes, such as converting the dining room into a wetroom, the lounge into a bedroom, the garage into a lounge for her, an easy to use kitchen, ramps and to widen the doors.
