AN application to turn the old West Wiltshire District Council Offices in Trowbridge into 79 homes has been approved.

Newland Homes put forward the proposal to demolish the old buildings in Bradley Road in June 2017 and Wiltshire Council gave the application the go-ahead in late August.

Trowbridge Councillor Graham Payne asked for this application to be reviewed in July last year, due to concerns about loss of mature trees, overdevelopment at the site and not enough parking spaces.

“It seems they have dealt with these concerns to a degree but I still don’t think there is enough parking,” he said.

“People have multiple cars these days. I worry about there being restricted parking on Bradley Road and Wiltshire Drive too. My main point though is that they should just get on with it and get rid of this blot on the landscape.”

It was going to be 82 houses but that was cut to 79.
