A NEW group has been formed in Westwood to convert the former village telephone box into a book swap library.
The old red box was abandoned by British Telecom and then sold for a nominal £1 to Westwood Parish Council.
Now two local mums have got together to form the Westwood Telephone Library Group.
Rachel Smith, 34, of Bobbins Lane, and her next-door neighbour, Holly Pope, 36, plan to renovate the box.
They want to turn it into a book swap library for local children and adults to use.
Rachel said: “We’re hopping to get lots of children’s books and to use it as a book swap. There will be some books for adults as well.”
Mrs Smith is in the process of cleaning the box with Holly prior to it being repainted red to preserve its heritage.
When the book swap library is up and running, local children from Westwood with Iford Primary School will run a live broadcast on Westwood Radio.
