A GOOD time was had by all at the Queensway Chapel Family Fun Day in Melksham despite the horrendously wet weather on Saturday (Sept 22)..

More than 170 adults and children attended the event from 11am to 2pm at the church premises in Pembroke Road and the family centre across the road.

Family worker Rachel Erwin said the fun day was intended to raise awareness of the evangelical church and its children’s nursery.

She added: “Everybody had a good time and seemed to appreciate it despite the horrendous weather on Saturday.

“It was really good and we were encouraged by it. We’re hoping to make it an annual event.”

“The is the first time that we have held an event like this and our aim is to raise awareness of the church and our activities among local residents.”

Activities included an inflatable assault course, barbecue-style food, cake sale, cream tea, games, crafts, face painting and glitter tattoos.

There was also live music and a wellbeing challenge for older members of the local community.

The next event will be a fundraising quiz night on Saturday, November 17, from 6.30pm.
