A 64-YEAR-old Trowbridge pensioner has been declared a “superstar” after donating his 100th pint of blood.
Former armed forces and Territorial Army veteran Uan Hall first started donating blood back in 1971.
“I saw some of the stuff that was going on and thought it was important to donate,” said Uan, who served all over the world.
“I began donating in October 1971 and have donated about four times a year in recent years.”
National Blood Service staff taking donations at The Civic in Trowbridge on Tuesday (Oct 16) were delighted with his record.
“He’s a superstar,” they said.
The former boy soldier, who took the Queen’s shilling at the of 15, has a O Positive blood group, the most common type.
Mr Hall, of Silver Birch Grove, Trowbridge, said: “I used to plan all the family holidays around the dates I was due to give blood.”
He is also on the National Organ Donor Register and the Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Register.
