AROUND 1,000 women attended nights of glitz, glamour and fundraising which raised thousands for Breast Cancer Care and Dorothy House.

The four events run over the past two weekends at The Civic in Trowbridge saw women women who are still fighting the disease become Bosom Buddies for the evening, appearing on the catwalk to show their support and say thank you to breast cancer charities.

The groups enjoyed welcome drinks, a three-course meal, scantily-clad butler service, raffles, games, live music, a fashion show and disco.

Towards the end of the night, people wrote heartfelt messages about their own, their family’s or a loved one’s fight with cancer on pink ribbons which were all sewn onto a dress which was paraded down the catwalk.

Co-promoter Dale Hattey-Palmer-Jones said: “It was a fantastically amazing event and the show was just amazing.

“It is always ridiculously emotional, we always have to wait until after to read the ribbon messages as it is just so emotional.

“So many people are affected by breast cancer, and it is nice to celebrate the fact that there are survivors.

“I have worked with cancer charities for years and I find that apart from the disease actual itself, women struggle with loosing their femininity.

“That’s why it is so nice to see our Bosom Buddies all dressed up, they get their hair and makeup done professionally and they love it.

His husband Wayne, who co-runs events company Cow Parsley, said: “I just cant get over how amazing the show was. The support we had from local companies was just outstanding. Barclays Bank matched the money raised from activity packs pound to pound.”

The nights drew praise on social media from many who attended.

A total figure for the amount raised for the two charities is still being calculated, but organisers hope to match last year’s £22,000 total.
