Drivers are being asked to be aware of a slow moving and wide abnormal load that will be escorted through the county today (26 October 2018).

The load was escorted by Wiltshire Police from 9.30am from Imber Avenue, Warminster, along Imber Road, Copheap Lane, Westbury Road, the A350, the A36 and the A303 eastbound where the load will continue on its journey beyond the county boundary.

It is due to reach its destination by 12.30pm.

It is two large military low-loaders laden with military equipment on a trailer pulled by a suitable tractor unit.

It will be a large, slow-moving load, so police are asking drivers to be aware and find alternative routes where possible.

Wherever possible, disruption will be kept to a minimum although both hauliers and motorists are asked to please be patient should they come across this load. Anyone travelling over this period on time critical matters should allow sufficient additional time.

Regular updates and travel information in respect of this abnormal load will be passed from the Control Room at Devizes where appropriate to help motorists plan their journey.

Police escorting resources are being provided by volunteer officers, paid for by the haulier at no cost to the public.
