THE children of St George’s School in Semington helped local people when they gave the proceeds of their harvest festival to Melksham Foodbank.
Pupils brought in lots of food items to celebrate Harvest Festival, and all of the children’s donations were collected by the Melksham Foodbank and distributed to those in need within the local community.
Pip Hunt, headteacher at St George’s School, said: “Harvest is a really valuable reminder to all of how lucky we are and instils within the children a sense of helping others who are less fortunate than them.
“The school has a strong belief in helping others and we are looking forward to our next charity event when we raise money for Children in Need.
“Our newly elected school council have chosen to hold a bake sale and have a mufti day as our next fundraisers.”
Dozens of tins and packets of food were given to the Foodbank after the school’s service.
