VOLUNTEERS are celebrating this week as the Sensory Garden in Trowbridge has won the outstanding award in the Its Your Neighbourhood scheme for the sixth year running.
The award was given to the garden based on the volunteers’ community participation, environmental responsibility and gardening achievement. The group meets twice a week to keep the garden off Park Road well maintained.
Barbara Schroeder, volunteer and vice chairman of the garden, said: “This is quite an achievement for us and we are really happy to have been given this award.
“The Sensory Garden is a place of reflection, away from the busyness of the park where people can come for a walk or a sit down in a quieter place.
“Not many people seem to know the gardens are here, but we are behind the Town Hall and adjacent to the town park.
“We would like to see more people come and visit. The gates are always open during the day.”
