Children wore odd socks to school to celebrate individuality and allow them to express themselves by showing how unique everyone is.

Pupils at St Margaret’s Preparatory School, Calne wore the unusual addition to their uniform as part of National Anti-Bullying Week, where the focus this year was Choose Respect.

Deputy Head Cath Jones said: ‘We explored the importance of respecting each other both face to face and online, whilst recognising that our differences deserve to be celebrated, not used as a reason to be unkind to one another.

"We started the week by joining in Odd Socks Day, which provided an opportunity for the children to express themselves and appreciate individuality.

"There was no pressure for them to wear the latest fashion or for parents to buy expensive costumes’. Pupils donated £1 each on the day, which St Margaret’s will be sending to the NSPCC. Miss Jones said: "Last year the NSPCC came to St Margaret’s to share their Speak Out, Stay Safe campaign with the children.

"One element of this was how to keep safe from bullying and we wanted to support the incredible work they do in keeping children safe by sending a donation to this very worthy charity."
