ENGLAND Rugby mascot William Watters had an “amazing” day out at Twickenham last Saturday (Nov 17).

The nine-year-old from Melksham was one of four England Rugby junior mascots for the game against Japan, which the home side won by 35-15 points.

William, of Ingram Road, Melksham, said: “It was an amazing experience. It was absolutely brilliant.

“I got to walk out with Danny Care and stood in front of George Ford for the national anthems.

“I also met the other England players, including Owen Farrell, Dylan Hartley and Sam Underhill.”

William, who plays for Melksham RFC’s U9s team, was given a full England kit to keep. He also toured the stadium and met England Rugby’s head coach Eddie Jones.

William, a pupil at the local Forest & Sandridge Primary School, was chosen to be a mascot because he has a heart condition that required surgery when he was only four months old.
