HUNDREDS of residents in Bradford on Avon will gather on Friday evening (Nov 30) to watch the town switch on its annual Christmas lights display.

Newly-named Shining Light award winner, Gail Keverne, of the Catkins Pre-school Nursery, will switch on the lights at 6.30pm in Westbury Gardens.

She is the first winner of the town’s new Community Award given to a special member of the community who has really made a difference to the town and its residents.

An eco-friendly Christmas display is being planned with LED bulbs to light up the town where possible.

There will be music from 5pm to 7.30pm from Shannon Kitchen, who appeared in The Voice TV programme in 2017, and Sticky Toffee Jazz.

Betty Twinkle will also be out and about in the town on her festive robin spreading merriment and cheer.

Local MP Michelle Donelan will cut a ribbon at 6.45pm to open donations to the Elizabeth Rose Giving Tree in Lamb Yard for Bath Cats and Dogs Home, The Hub and Julian House.
