LIONS Club members in Bradford on Avon are hoping to raise more than £3,500 from their annual Christmas Float tour around the town and surrounding villages.

The events kick-off on Friday evening with the Christmas Lights switch-on in Westbury Gardens and will continue next week with the start of their tour of the area.

Club president Keith Yates said: “Over the past four years, we have raised around £3,500 each Christmas.

“We will be using the money donated to buy 60 parcels to deliver to people and families in need and the rest will go to our charitable trust fund for use next year.

“We can’t down some roads and streets because of the cars parked on each side, so people who don’t see the float can donate at our collections at Sainsbury’s.”

The float will go to:

Tuesday, December 4 from 6pm-8.30pm – Northleigh, Bancroft, Leigh Park, Berryfields and Sladesbrook area;

Thursday, December 6 from 6pm-8.30pm – Woolley Street, New Road and Springfield area;

Saturday, December 8 from 5.45pm-8.30pm – Holt;

Monday, December 10 from 6pm-8.30pm – Bath Road, Winsley Road (part), Priory Close,k Huntingdon Rise, Ashley Road;

Tuesday, December 11 from 6pm-8.30pm – Westwood;

Thursday, December 13 from 6pm-8.30pm – Churches, Downs View, Winsley Road (part) and Budbury Tyning area;

Saturday, December 15 from 5.45pm-8.30pm – Winsley;

Monday, December 17 from 6pm-8.30pm – Spencer’s Orchard, Bailey’s Barn and Southway Park;

Tuesday, December 18 from 6pm-8.30pm – St Laurence Road, Avonfield Avenue and Southville Road area;

Friday, December 21 from 10am-4pm – Sainsbury’s

Saturday, December 22 from 10am-4pm – Sainsbury’s

Monday, December 24 from 6pm – Carols Around the Tree in Westbury Gardens. This free event starts at 6pm. It’s suitable for all ages. Father Christmas will be there!
